TWO major events are being held in Bury next Tuesday as part of Dementia Awareness Week.

People are being invited to attend the Alzheimer’s Society dementia community roadshow at Tesco on the Woodfield retail park from 10am to 4pm.

Bury-based legal firm Clough & Willis, together with Hugh Jones Solicitors of Manchester, are also organising a dementia awareness event in the Fusilier Museum in Moss Street from 6pm to 8pm.

It is estimated more than 2,100 people are living with dementia in Bury and the Tesco roadshow will provide an opportunity to learn more about the disease, how the Alzheimer’s Society can help, and promote the benefits of early diagnosis of dementia.

The evening event at the Fusilier Museum will highlight the work of Bury Dementia Alliance.

The meeting is aimed at solicitors, accountants and financial advisers, focusing on issues relating to clients who might be suffering from dementia.

Sally Cook, head of the private client department at Clough & Willis, said: “The aim of this event is provide practical information and guidance which professional advisers can take away and put into practice.”
