VISITORS to Thompson Park were treated to a glimpse of a model Burnley Corporation Tramways tram.
Mayor of Burnley Frank Cant rode the model train, which was given the number 74. The last tram, the number 73, stopped running more than 79 years ago.
Chairman of the Burnley and Pendle Miniature Railway Society, George Lambert, said ‘Tommy the Tram’ was built by founder member Joe Milburn, who died in late 2012.
He said: “We said it would be a fitting tribute to him if we painted it in the old tram colours of the corporation.”
The tram will now be a permanent feature in the park, and features a memorial plaque to Mr Milburn.
