A PERVERT downloaded child porn on the day he was released from prison after serving a sentence for sex offences.

Blackburn magistrates heard Patrick William Blackie admitted to police he fantasised about what he would like to do to the children in the images.

And when he was arrested within hours of arriving at a bail hostel following his release, police recovered hundreds of indecent images from his mobile phone.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said: “This man represents a significant risk to others, especially children, and the Crown submits that your powers of punishment are not sufficient.”

Blackie, 29, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to 16 charges of possessing indecent images of children, two charges of distributing indecent images and one charge of breaching a Sexual offences Prevention Order (SOPO) by deleting his internet history.

He was committed in custody to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court.

Miss Allan said Blackie had previous convictions for sexual activity in the presence of children, possessing indecent images, taking a child out of the lawful custody of a parent or guardian and breaches of a SOPO for which he was jailed in November.

She said: “On the same day he was released, the police received information that he was downloading and distributing indecent images.

“He was arrested at the bail hostel and the police recovered hundreds of images from his mobile phone.

“He admitted to police that when he receives these images he fantasises about what he would like to do to the children, including having sex with them.”

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said the probation service had requested the defendant’s prison licence be revoked.

He said: “He takes a realistic view about what will happen.”
