THIEVES have stolen all the fence panels from the front of a 55-year-old woman’s property.

Janet Coup, who lives in Farmhouse Close in Shadsworth, Blackburn woke up on Bank Holiday Monday to find half of her fence panels gone.

Seemingly dissatisfied with their haul, the robbers then returned in the early hours of Thursday morning to take away the remaining panels.

Janet, who has lived in the property since July last year, says that she went to bed early on Sunday evening as she was feeling unwell.

She described the moment that a loud sound startled her from her slumber in the early hours of Monday morning.

“I heard a bang and it woke me at around 1am in the morning.

“At the time, I remember thinking that I should go down and have a look but I was feeling so ill, I couldn’t manage it so I just tried to brush it off and go back to sleep.

“In the morning, when I woke up, half of my fence panels had gone.

“Now, a few days later they’ve come back for the rest - it’s just unbelievable.”

Janet’s pristine driveway is now lined with concrete fence posts with no wooden fencing in between.

Concerned about the high cost of fencing, Janet is hoping that sharing her story will get her fence panels back to her.

“They are pretty heavy so they can’t have gone far and someone must have seen something. I just want them back.”

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “This is a quiet cul-de-sac.

“Unknown offenders have approached the house twice and stole a total of 5 fences worth around £100.

“It is being investigated but at this stage, it is unclear how the offenders made off with the fences.

“Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour or saw anything on those dates is asked to call the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
