A US TV personality took time to meet with Accrington Stanley boss, James Beattie during a trip to the North West.

Jesse McClure is one of the stars of US cult TV show Storage Hunters, a documentary series about people who bid on storage containers without properly seeing the contents in the hopes of selling it off for a profit.

Jesse and James were both invited to the opening of Stanley sponsor Store First’s new storage centre in Preston and hit it off immediately.

James presented the Californian with an Accrington Stanley shirt before his appearance on Soccer AM with Liverpool legend, Ian Rush.

On the morning of the show, Jesse tweeted “Guess who has their signed @1jamesbeattie @Store_First1 @ASFCOfficial shirt for @SoccerAM today? #ihatemilk” joking about the famous 80s Milk Marketing Board advert.

He wore the signed away shirt on the Saturday morning programme but said that his allegiance to Stanley was split with Stoke City FC, who he became a fan of after visiting a friend who lives in the city.

Jesse and James’ chat was filmed by Storage First and sees the pair both discussing about football.

Jesse asks James if he think he’s a better footballer or a better manager.

To which James said: “I don’t know, after this season’s performance some might say I’m a better manager! Nothing will substitute playing but this season has given me a different angle on things and a different way of looking at things.

“It’s certainly an experience and hopefully next year we’ll get an even better start than we do this year.”

James also admits to having moments where he feels tempted to run out on to the pitch but says he would never want his team to feel as though he thought he was a better player than them.

The friendship between Jesse and James is set to continue.

As James said he is now planning to invite Jesse and his wife Ashley to come and watch a Stanley game at the Store First Stadium next season.
