THE public turned out in force to a family fun day in memory of a baby girl who died of a heart condition at 15 weeks old.

A sold-out dog show, fairground rides and popular children’s characters were among the attractions on offer at Burrs Country Park in Bury on Sunday.

The day was hosted by Lagan’s Foundation, named after Carren Bell and Barry Grant’s baby daughter Lagan Katherine Anne Grant, who died of a heart condition in April, 2011.

Money raised will pay for the training of volunteers at Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool, where a consultant is a trustee of a charity.

Miss Bell, a former Derby high student who now lives in Horwich, was delighted with the turnout.

She said: “It’s been brilliant and absolutely packed with people. It could have been a bit sunnier but it wasn’t cold and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

“Dog agility went down a storm, and we had people queuing up with their dogs. Our dog showsold out, which is amazing really.

“The kids seem to be loving it, running around having a great time which is what we all want to see.”

The fun day followed the Lagan’s Foundation’s successful Party in the Park last year which raised £2,500.

The foundation is the UK’s only charity dedicated to providing help to parents in their own homes, whose babies are born with congenital heart defects and/or have feeding difficulties.
