BLACKBURN with Darwen Council have been praised after Ofsted inspectors gave a care home a Good rating.

The local authority home provides short-break care for up to five disabled young people — Ofsted protected the name and location of the facility in the report.

The judgement said that the children’s home has demonstrated continued improvement in the quality of care and outcomes for children and young people.

At the last inspection in 2013, the facility was also judged Good, but the council was advised to make more storage space available in young people’s rooms and to log medication more formally.

The latest report said: “Young people experience safe, nurturing care in a homely environment. They continue to make good progress during their short breaks. Since the last inspection, the home has made further improvements to children and young people’s quality of care.

“Children and young people continue to enjoy many opportunities to engage in social activities both home and away.”
