AN apartment block and terrace housing could be built on car parks in an attempt to bring a sense of ‘community and vibrancy’ to a town centre.
Chorley would be one of the first places in the north to reintroduce significant residential areas to a town centre with the promise of ‘fresh and modern’ architecture.
A five-week consultation ends on Monday, June 2, on the plans to improve parts of Fleet Street and Gillibrand Street.
The proposals could involve building up to 40, two and three-storey terrace houses and an apartment block on Fleet Street car parks.
Lesley-Ann Fenton, from Chorley Council, said: “We are having detailed consultation and are one of the first northern towns looking to bring new housing into the town centre.”
