POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a man has been missing from his home in Accrington, along with his pet terrapin, for three weeks.

Trevor Whitehead, 51, was last seen in Accrington on the evening of Wednesday April 9th 2014. However, he has failed to attend work or contact any family or friends since.

Mr Whitehead is a nature enthusiast, who spends his spare time walking in East Lancashire and beyond. He is a former wildlife photographer and is also a known botanist and birdwatcher. It is believed that he was in possession of the terrapin which he was planning on rehoming.

The missing appeal for Trevor is now being supported by national charity ‘Missing People’.

Sgt Andy Horne from Accrington Police said, “It’s now been three weeks to the day since Trevor was last seen and we, along with his family, are becoming more worried as to his whereabouts.

“We are continuing to search local beauty spots with Mountain Rescue, but would ask ramblers, fell runners, bird watchers and dog walkers to remain vigilant. Similarly, if anyone has any information at all, I would urge them to get in contact with us by ringing 101.”

Mr Whitehead is described as a white male, five ft, seven ins, of medium build, with a fair complexion and short grey hair. He was last seen wearing either a red waterproof coat or a dark green / camouflage jacket with green wellington boots and a dark rucksack.
