A COUPLE have made it to a rare milestone and celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary.
Reynold and Edna Barlow, of Salters Court, Atherton, met when they both lived in Lynton Street, in Leigh, and married 70 years ago at Tyldesley Independent Methodist Church on April 22, 1944.
Mr Barlow, aged 93, worked in the RAF before becoming a bus conductor for the LUT, while Mrs Barlow, aged 94, has always been a housewife. Their community matron Karen said: “They did not have any children of their own.
They feel the secret to their long lasting marriage is working together in every way as one.
“They hope to celebrate their very special event with a few close friends and remaining close relatives by having a small buffet at home.
“I hope they are an inspiration to others, due to their age and lasting love.”
