A COMMUNITY crackdown on dangerous drivers has been held at Makkah Mosque.
The event to stamp out dangerous driving in Bolton was the third of a series of awareness days to be held in the town.
Police, firefighters, Bolton Council, and Bolton Council of Mosques joined forces to educate people about the consequences of driving irresponsibly.
The educational events were launched in the wake of two drivers being jailed after a horror crash in St Helens Road, Daubhill, where 11 people were injured in July last year.
The scheme was launched at Al Rahman Mosque in Randall Street, Daubhill, and has since taken part at other mosques in Bolton.
Makkah Mosque in Grecian Crescent, Great Lever, is the latest to host the event. Police quizzed motorists on their driving knowledge and told them how driving inconsiderately can result in your car being seized if you are stopped for a second time and a simulator was available for people to put their driving to the test and to see the impact of alcohol on a person’s driving.
The next event will be held at the car park of Noor Ul Islam Mosque in Prospect Street, Halliwell, on May 10, from 1.45pm. For details about the campaign contact 01204 363680.
