THE Market Place shopping centre ‘served’ up a treat when it held a table tennis fun day to raise funds for charity.
The event raised £218 for Marie Curie Cancer Care and £87 for Bolton Wanderers Community Trust.
And Bolton Wanderers mascot, Lofty The Lion, was the star guest.
Alan Clemence, a retired businessman and events fundraiser at Marie Curie, said: “We want to encourage as many people as possible to come and play table tennis — hopefully it will become a more regular event.
“It’s important to unite the community and give young people something different.”
This is the second time the event has been held at The Market Place, after Commonwealth Games table tennis medalist Andrew Rushton attended the last fun day.
