Clitheroe continental market hailed a success

First published in News

CLITHEROE’S first continental market has been hailed a success by the town’s mayor.

Coun Kevin Horkin said he hoped the market would be held twice a year after attracting large crowds to the market town over four days at the end of last week.

The event was staged on the town market’s car park and featured produce from across the continent.

Coun Horkin, who toured the market with MP Nigel Evans said: “I believe the market was a success. Anything that brings people into the town centre over a weekend period is good for the town.

“I would have liked to have seen it held on the Bull Ring instead of using the car park because it took a lot of spaces away from people over the four days.

“You have got to try different things to get people into the town and I think this continental market did just that.”

Not very objective reporting. I went and thought it was pathetic. And wasn't particularly popular.

....MJA did you expect anything different given that Clitheroe council were involved?
