POLICE reduced the value of the charge after hearing deodorant stolen from a convenience store was on special offer.
But there was no discount for serial shoplifter Andrew Wilde who was jailed for 60 days.
Wilde, 31, of Rawstorne Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to stealing 22 cans of Lynx from the One Stop Shop, New Bank Road.
Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the original charge had been for £78 but because the deodorants were on special offer it had been brought down to £58.
Gareth Price, defending, said his client knew the aggravating feature was his previous record. He had eight convictions for similar offences in 2013 and already had convictions in 2014 which had resulted in a custodial sentence.
Mr Price said: “Drugs are behind his offending.”
