A GRANDMOTHER who was diagnosed cancer was given flowers to celebrate beating the disease.
Patricia Booth, aged 52, was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 1, 2009, and five years on, her grandchildren presented her with five bunches of flowers, one for each year she has been cancer-free.
Mrs Booth, who is a teaching assistant at Holy Infants School in Astley Bridge, was surprised at work by the family while she was on a break. Paying a special visit to Mrs Booth were her four granddaughters, her grandson, her three daughters and her husband.
Lesley Walsh, who is Mrs Booth’s daughter, said: “It was a very emotional moment. It really took my mother by surprise — there were a few tears.
“During the time my mum has been ill we have organised a few charity events but this one is extra special as my mum is now cancer free.
“My mum is amazing and is an inspiration to many, most of all me, my sisters and her five grandchildren.”
