THE Clarets’ promotion bid will taste even sweeter thanks to the town’s own beer producer.

Burnley’s Moorhouse’s Brewery has backed its own club’s charge towards the Premier League by rebranding its flagship ale.

And even though promotion has not yet been sealed, fans will be quick to raise a glass.

Premier Bitter has been renamed ‘Premier-ship’ and is accompanied by a new pump clip featuring a picture of Turf Moor.

The rebrand of the 3.7 per cent ale that once won gold at the Beer Industry International Awards will last for 10 weeks.

Moorhouse’s managing director David Grant said: “We wanted to make a statement for our local pubs, who will benefit from Burnley getting back into the Premier League, and using our much loved Premier Bitter was the ideal way to do this.

"You might say the brewery has been promoted to another league itself, so as the major brewer for the area it seems right that we should give our backing to the tremendous effort the club is making to win promotion.”

The Clarets are nine points clear in second place in the Championship with seven games to go as they look to secure promotion to the top flight once more.
