FRIENDS and neighbours have paid tribute to a father who was found dead at his Tonge Moor home.

The man, who has been named locally as 39-year-old Paul Haslam, was found at a house in Tonge Moor Road, Tonge Moor, at about 7pm last night.

Police break down the front door at the house after Mr Haslam’s girlfriend called the emergency services because she was concerned for his well being.

A police spokesman said his death is not being treated as suspicious and that Mr Haslam’s family have been informed about his death.

The cause of Mr Haslam's death is not yet known, and neighbours expressed shock and sadness at the news.

Mr Haslam had a young son, and was said to have been seen “looking well” just days before his death.

Neighbour Franco Capparelli, aged 49, said: “I was really shocked to hear about Paul. I saw him just two days before and he looked well.

"He was with his young son and we said hi to each other.

“They had mother’s day gifts with them, so I presume they were going to visit the young lad’s mum, who lives elsewhere — I didn’t know what had happened until the police came on Tuesday evening.

“He was a very nice lad. He was quiet but he was a good neighbour to have and we would often have a chat outside the house — I am very sad.”

Fellow neighbour Lisa Bezkorowajnyj, aged 58, has lived near Mr Haslam for ten years.

She said: “I was devastated when I read in the paper that he had died.

"Paul was quiet and we didn’t see much of him because he worked nights — but he was always very pleasant.”

43-year-old Marc Clough, who had been friends with Mr Haslam in their teenage years, said: “We were friends when we were younger as we both lived near each other. Paul was a really nice guy and was always smiling.”

Devastated friends also posted their tributes to Mr Haslam on Facebook.

Claire Beedham wrote: “Rest in peace Paul you always used to make me laugh and would be the main man at all the parties. I hope you are having a beer up there you will be sadly missed.”

Martin Kilburn posted: “Hard to believe you're not with us any more pal, you will be missed by all,” while Laura Morris added: “You come across people in life that whenever u see them they always make you smile — you were one of them.”
