A short story competition for children has been launched by a housing group as part of the What’s Your Story, Chorley? event.
Chorley Community Housing (CCH) is to sponsor a short story competition for children with prizes worth a total of £150.
The competition, which is open to children of CCH tenants, is inviting entries from three different age groups on the theme of My Magical House.
The What’s Your Story, Chorley? mini-festival will be a day of literary events across the borough on April 26.
CCH director of operations Richard Houghton said: “We wanted to be a part of the ‘What’s Your Story, Chorley?’ event and felt that this was a good way to get involved. Hopefully the theme ‘My Magical House’ will get a few imaginations going and lead to some great stories for the judges to read.”
Entries will be judged by CCH staff and the winners announced as part of the events on April 26.
Mr Houghton added: “We won’t necessarily find that the next JK Rowling is living in a CCH property but you never know.”
One prize of £50 in book tokens will be available for children in each of three age groups: Seven and under (minimum 200 words); eight – 11 (minimum 600 words) and 12 – 16 (minimum 1,000 words).
One prize only per age group.
Entries to be submitted to CCH Short Story Competition, Ann James House, 32–34 St Thomas’s Road, Chorley, PR7 1HR by 5pm on Tuesday, April 22.
