A YOUNG joinery apprentice has carved out a successful career in construction despite his dislike of school.
Jack Hennessey, has excelled during his two-year apprenticeship with house builder Keepmoat.
The 19-year-old former Shuttleworth College, Burnley pupil has been earning and learning while helping to construct high-quality homes in Accrington.
Jack, who grew up on the Griffin Estate in Burnley, said: “I didn’t really enjoy school, I found it hard to concentrate.
“My apprenticeship with Keepmoat is completely different as I get to learn on the job and am working with people who really know their stuff.”
Jack has been working on the £30 million regeneration scheme off Blackburn Road in Accrington, which will see Keepmoat build 300 homes over eight years.
He has worked on more than 100 Keepmoat houses including the developer’s sites in Burnley – Towneley Gardens and Pendle View – and other Keepmoat developments in Accrington and Bootle.
