A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a car smashed into a tree in Crompton Way.
Police were called at 10.37am after reports that a grey Nissan Primera had hit a tree in Crompton Way, near the Lidl store.
The car suffered serious damage in the incident, losing most of its front bumper and suffering severe cracks to the windscreen.
An airbag was also deployed inside the car, but no-one is believed to have been seriously injured in the incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 24-year-old male had been arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
He is now in police custody.
Police are still at the scene and traffic is being diverted.
