POLICE are expected to release a witness appeal later today following a collision which left a ten-year-old boy with serious multiple injuries.

Bolton Road in Bury was closed in both directions yesterday between Haig Road and Kitchener Street and Mile Lane after an incident involving the youngster and a large horse box.

The boy was flown to Manchester Royal Infirmary with serious leg injuries and other multiple injuries via the North West Air Ambulance helicopter.

Fire crews from Bury and Whitefield and the tactical response unit from Leigh were at the scene to release the boy from the wreckage.

There were long tailbacks through Bury town centre and heavy traffic on a diversion through Ainsworth Road.

Both bury and bolton road and ainsworth road even more so need stringent speeding measures putting in place. Bolton road has loads of side roads which with cars travelling at speed makes it so scary.
The road down from the rose and crown pub towards bury town centre is like a race track all day with people ignoring the speed limits.
Hope the lad is ok.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, saw the Air Ambulance land last night. JUST HOPE HE WAS USING THE PELICAN CROSSINGS that are in use down this road, IF NOT WHY NOT? The number of people who just walk across a busy main road and stand in the middle of it till it's clear is scary. If he wasn't using a crossing then he only has himself to blame. I feel sorry for the driver who hit him and I hope the horse in the horse box wasn't hurt? BRING BACK TUFTY THE SQUIRREL I SAY, I'm 55 years old and it worked with me............

Ginger ****,
"If he wasn't using a crossing then he only has himself to blame".

What an unbelievable and disgusting thing to say, for someone of your age you should be ashamed of yourself. If you don't know anything about the accident then don't say anything so stupid and make assumptions of that nature.
For all you know, the driver of the horse box might have been drinking, mounted the kerb, hit the lad and ran off (I'm not saying that happened bytheway)......would you still feel sorry for him then?
Until the full details come out, let's just all hope and pray the young lad in question makes a full and speedy recovery.

I can only assume you've set up an account and make that ridiculous comment to draw attention to yourself. If not you're beyond help. He's only himself to blame? He's 10 you absolute moron.

Well i see you are a firm believer in CONJECTURE no facts just assumption in your comment.A few words of wisdom to you the 55 year old ---IT IS DANGEROUS TO ASSUME---- as the facts when known will prove to be much more reliable, then you will understand that unless you know for sure then keep your assumptions to yourself.

pls do not comment using incorrect facts. As a friend of the family involved i am aware of the correct facts and a game of chicken was not the reason for the accident, crossing on a red light does not constitute playing chicken. Before you leave comments pls think about the hurt you may be causing the family in this difficult and painful time. IN OTHER WORDS ACT YOUR AGE!!!!

Owe you an apology....are you joking?

You really do need to keep it shut you complete halfwit and think more and more about what has happened. Whatever the circumstances are is irrelevant, it's the outcome that take preference here and if you can't see that, then you seriously need help.

I think i speak for everyone when i say, your stupid and ill advised comments are not welcome.
