A DISABLED man who hit an off-duty policeman with his mobility scooter has appeared before Bolton magistrates.
Steven Best, who has learning difficulties, pleaded guilty to driving the mobility scooter without due care and attention on Victoria Road, Horwich, on October 23 last year.
He also admitted failing to stop after an accident and failing to stop after an accident.
The court heard Best, aged 46, of Berne Avenue, Horwich, was driving the scooter out of Fox Street onto Victoria Road when he collided with Glen Eccles, an off duty police officer who was riding a mountain bike along Victoria Road at the time.
Best is also charged with assaulting Mr Eccles, but he denies the offence and a trial has been listed to take place at Bolton Magistrates Court on June 13.
