STUDENTS got on their bikes to help save the planet and find an environmentally friendly way of getting to school.
Pupils and staff at St Gabriel’s High School, in Bridge Street, took part in the ‘Big Pedal’, which saw people cycle to school for two weeks.
They met at Holcombe precinct every morning and travelled to school in a convoy along the Kirklees Trail, away from traffic, and then travelled home along the same route after school.
Jodie Lindsay, an English teacher who helped to organise the event and who took part, said: “It was very successful. The pupils were really enthusiastic, and it has helped to promote an environmentally friendly way of getting to school and well as being part of a healthy lifestyle.
“We are hoping to do more events like this in the summer term.”
