A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was hit by a car in Chorley Old Road.

The incident took place outside NatWest bank at about 9.55pm on Tuesday.

The woman, who is believed to be in her 50s, suffered a broken leg and a possible bleed to the brain after colliding with a blue Volkswagon Passat. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

A witness reported seeing the area cordened off at about 11pm.

Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is looking into the incident.

No arrests have been made and the police are not treating it as serious.
