The owner of a Chorley-based childminding service has spoken out against changes to the way child carers are to be inspected.
Vicky Skyner, who runs Meerkats Childminding Services, said introducing childminding agencies in September 2014 will lead to questions over the quality of care.
She said: “Many childminders and parents feel that with childminding agencies standards will drop. We feel it is very important in order to maintain high standards of care that all childminders are graded by Ofsted on an individual basis rather than umbrella ratings for agencies.
“With agencies coming in, the cost of staying independent will rise as we have been told that we might have to pay more than £500 for Ofsted to inspect us.
“This is surely going against their policy of providing ‘affordable childcare’.”
