VIOLENCE erupted between rival fans at a non-league football match on Saturday.

Radcliffe Borough’s clash with Lancaster City was halted when brawls broke out at the side of the pitch side in front of the corporate lounges at the club’s Stainton Park ground.

Three people required hospital treatment according to a police spokesman, who added that the supporters involved were not Radcliffe Borough fans.

It is understood that supporters of neighbouring Ramsbottom United, whose scheduled match with Farsley Celtic was postponed, clashed with Lancaster fans after attending the Radcliffe match instead.

Footage of the violence has been uploaded to YouTube and it shows players and officials intervening.

Lancaster City won the match 4-1 to leave Radcliffe just a point clear of the relegation zone.
