Bolton's Ironkids success to be rolled out across the country

This Is Lancashire: Bolton's Ironkids event Bolton's Ironkids event

THE massive success of Bolton’s Ironkids event has prompted organisers to go national with the children’s endurance feat.

Ironkids has more than double its entrants in just two years and is now a sell-out with 2,000 youngsters taking part, which makes it the biggest Ironkids event in the world.

Now, Ironman 70.3 Exmoor will introduce its inaugural Ironkids run on June 15 and Ironkids Wales has changed its format from a splash/run on the beach to a run in the heart of Tenby’s town centre, with the kids finishing under the iconic IRONMAN finish arch.

Bolton’s Ironkids event will take place on Jily 19.

Aimed at encouraging children to lead an active, positive and healthy lifestyle Ironkids events are open to children aged three to 14.

They are targeted at local youngsters to come and have a go as well as those whose parents are competing, so they too can feel part of the action of a World Class event.

The events have different distances depending on the child’s age and each child will receive a special commemorative IRONKIDS T-shirt in their entry pack and a medal after completing their run to celebrate their achievement.

Kevin Stewart, managing director of Ironman UK and Ireland said, “We want to encourage as many kids as possible to come and experience an Ironman event. Hopefully their participation will give them a taste of the sport and inspire them to compete in triathlon in the future.”

Entries are now open for all Ironkids events.

Visit ironkids.co.uk for further information and online entry — to be completed by parents or guardians.
