A LONDON 2012 silver medallist joined pupils from two Chorley schools for a special problem-solving activity day.

Team GB paralympic cyclist Rik Waddon joined pupils from Parklands High School and St Michael's CE High School for the session at the Anderton Centre, an outdoor activities centre in Rivington.

Rik, who comes from Chorley, said: “The facilities at the Anderton Centre were amazing and in great surroundings.

“After giving my story to the youngsters, I suddenly found myself plonking on a mountain climbing helmet and heading off towards a Krypton Factor-style obstacle course.

“I was paired up with a group from Parklands High School.

“At first I was a little reluctant to join in, as I wanted the youngsters to think for themselves about how they were going to tackle the course.

“But after a few minutes it dawned on me that I was going to be a part of their puzzle in achieving the goal of getting across the course.

“The group did really well and their communication was spot-on.”

The session was arranged through the Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentor scheme.
