CLITHEROE Town Band’s Christmas concerts have been given a boost from a housing developer.
Barratt Manchester, which is building around 135 homes at Ribble Meadows, was approached for help by the band earlier this year who were keen to buy an updated set of musical Christmas carol scores.
The housebuilder used funds from the Barratt Legacy programme to invest in a full set of new scores.
Michael Haydock, musical director of Clitheroe Town Band, said: “We are very grateful to the Barratt Legacy Programme for its support.
“The band is part of the fabric of this community and brings young and old together.
“Barratt’s donation will help us keep our performances in demand and going forward.”
Barratt Manchester sales manager Graeme Gibb said: “The band is an important part of the heritage of the area, but they felt that they had been playing the same arrangements for too long and wanted to revitalise their performances.”
