Mark Taylor, 26, of Cross Street, Great Harwood was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £400 by Hyndburn magistrates.
He pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
The court heard that police on duty in Great Harwood town centre at 2.30am saw a car driving towards them with no lights on.
When the car stopped and Taylor got out, he was "clearly drunk".
Simon Farnsworth, defending, said his client believed his drinks had been spiked.
But an expert's report suggested that even if this was the case, he would have been over the limit without his drinks being "doctored".
