THE Mayor of Bury Cllr Sharon Briggs raised the Commonwealth Flag outside the town hall to mark Commonwealth Day.

It was one of 500 Commonwealth flags to be raised by local authorities and community groups throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and The Isle of Man.

A flag was also raised in Bolton and the final flag to be raised on Monday was by The Queen outside the Great West Door of Westminster Abbey.

didn't know bury had a Mayor, I thought it was a metropolitan borough mayor to represent the "so-called" metropolitan borough we all live in as equals.
must be another attempt for bury to takeaway something from the local surrounding towns again. do bury not have anything of their own? do they need to steal ideas or traditions from other towns all the time?.

im sure somebody will soon let me know.
