A SHOP which was left badly damaged when a car smashed into it has been made safe by council engineers.

The owner of the building was working on a site nearby and was able to secure the shop initially.

The shop will be shut for the foreseeable future while damage is repaired.

Council engineers ensured made the building safe on Monday evening.
