Firefighters had to break into a cafe on Bury Market as smoke poured out of the building.
A hot plate had been left on at Cafe Plaza at the market, and a crew from Bury fire station had to force the shutters open to gain access at around 10.30pm last night.
There was no fire in the cafe, however it was giving off a lot of smoke as the heat burned a nearby grill and a bucket.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
