BOLTON’S singing hopefuls failed to make it to the next stage of BBC singing show The Voice UK.

Joe Keegan, aged 17, from Westhoughton, lost out to Jamie Johnson and Vicky Jones, aged 29, from Bromley Cross, lost out to Melissa Gill in the battle round.

Joe said: “Probably my mindset wasn’t brilliant. I tried to sort of ignore the way The Voice works, you have to dual sort of thing.

“I was ready for a duet rather than a battle.

“I’m not an aggressive person, not to say that Jamie is, but it’s not in my nature to try and outdo somebody.

“I have no negative feelings. I went onto The Voice with the sole aim to get on national TV and I’ve done that.

“I’ve done it twice.

“I’ve met some incredible people. I’ve loved every second.”

Vicky, sister of McFly’s Danny Jones, said: “Obviously I wanted to go through, everyone wanted to go through.

“At the same time, I felt Melissa and I had such a close battle.

“You’ve just got to accept these things happen for a reason. I’ve just got to make the most of my time on the show.

“It was a fair battle and she won for a reason. I think maybe nerves got the better of me.

“Tom said he really struggled to make a decision.

“They were completely divided, Will and Kylie said me and then Ricky and Tom went for Melissa.

“I’ve got a band together and we’re going to do a tour and I’ve got a few things up my sleeve.”
