Man, 48, held after three hurt in Blackburn crash

THREE people were taken to hospital after a car crash in Blackburn yesterday.

A pregnant woman and a male pedestrian were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with bruising and an elderly woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with a collapsed lung.

Following the three-car collision, a 48-year-old who was driving a Peugeot 3008, was charged with drink driving, driving while being disqualified, and driving without insurance.

He remained in custody last night.

The motorists in the two other vehicles, a BMW 320 and a Volkswagen Scirocco, had to be cut free by firefighters following the crash near the junction with Crosshill Road.

The incident happened at 1.30pm and Preston New Road was closed for two hours following the crash.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: “The injured people were taken to hospital via ambulance.”

She added: “None of their injuries are believed to be serious.”
