A CAR fire caused traffic problems for rush-hour commuters in Burnley yesterday.

A crew from Burnley fire station was called to the Gannow roundabout, at junction nine of the M65, at around 5.15pm after a driver spotted coming from the engine.

Watch manager Neil Ashworth said the incident caused ‘gridlock’ for around 30 minutes as the smoke was put out using two hose reels.
