A MOTHER who has never flown is preparing to jump out of a plane to say thank you to the charity which took her daughter on a once in a lifetime trip.

Jeanette Ward is embarking on a charity skydive in aid of Dreamflight, which takes children with disabilities or illnesses to some of best locations in the world.

The trips include staff with the medical expertise so young people can enjoy all the attractions other children can.

Mrs Ward’s 13-year-old daughter, Hope Rempega, has cerebral palsy and is deaf.

In October, the Sharples High School pupil was taken to a 10 day all expenses paid trip to Florida by Dreamflight.

It was after hearing that some of the adults who went with the group as part of the charity were taking part in a skydive Mrs Ward decided to join in.

The 34-year-old, of Crescent Avenue, Farnworth, said: “I have never even been in a plane.

“I am getting nervous but even though I am not scared of heights, it is beginning to worry me a little.”

Mrs Ward, who has three other children and two step-children, added: “I wanted to give something back to the charity.

“I could not afford to have taken my daughter to Florida and on to all the theme parks swimming with dolphins. And I felt confident letting her go because the charity takes doctors and medical teams with them.

“It is such a good charity and really helps children.

She added: “My daughter came back more confident and wanted to do things.”

The money will go towards more holidays for young people, with every child costing £3,000.

The tandem sky dive takes place on May 18.
