AN Edenfield resident will be getting on his bike to cycle nearly 400 miles for a children’s charity next week.

Steve Valentine, aged 41, of Eden Avenue, will cycle 562km across Northern India, from Agra to Jaipur, over 12 days for Save the Children.

Mr Valentine, who works as a regional director for the air conditioning contractor Coolair Equipment Ltd, will team up with 20 others with the aim of raising £75,000 for the charity.

The team consists of staff and clients from Mitsubishi Electric and Coolair Equipment Ltd, and will embark on their journey next Wednesday.

To prepare for the gruelling event, Mr Valentine has gone riding over Holcombe Moor four nights a week.

He said: “It’s been quite challenging, especially with the wind and rain, but it’ll be worth it to raise money for a good cause and it’s a great chance to explore India. I can’t wait.”

Mr Valentine and his team will cycle for six to eight hours a day.

He has raised more than £2,200 online and aims to boost the final total to around £3,000.
