CARS giant Motorpoint has chosen Help for Heroes as its official charity of the year for 2014.

Staff at the motor supermarket, off Gannow Lane, will now be planning a series of fundraisers to benefit the military cause.

One of the first will be entering rider in the Cheshire Cat 100 Bike Ride next month, as well as entering a team for the Tough Mudder Challenge in Berkshire in April.

Current patrons for Help for Heroes include cyclist Mark Cavendish, singer James Blunt and TV presenter Lorraine Kelly.

The firm has set a target of £20,000 before the end of the year.

Jon Grace, general manager of Motorpoint Burnley, said: “We consulted widely with our staff about who we should support this year and they voted unanimously to support the work of this wonderful organisation,.

Last year the company raised £15,000 for air ambulance charities.
