THE funeral of a Nelson former soldier who died in Australia will take place tomorrow.
Scott Thompson, 27, died in a quad-biking accident in the state of Victoria earlier this month.
His funeral will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Burnley Road, Colne, from 2.15pm.] It will be followed by a private ceremony at Burnley Crematorium.
A wake will then take place at the Inn on the Wharf pub, in Manchester Road, Burnley.
Mr Thompson’s family have appealed for donations in his memory to be made to two charities – Help for Heroes and Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The popular former Bradley Primary School and Colne Primet High School student, nicknamed ‘Rhino’, served in the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment from 2010 to 2013.
Stationed at Weeton Barracks, near Blackpool, he served as a Kingsman in Cyprus before leaving last year to go travelling in Asia and Australia with his girlfriend Sami Allott, from Burnley.
Mr Thompson, who was working as a labourer on a farm, died when he was struck by a truck near the town of Bungador around 11am on February 4.
