A MAN suffered minor neck injuries after being involved in a rush hour crash.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was driving a Citroen Berlingo van when he collided with a Volkswagen Golf at the junction of Preston New Road and Yew Tree Drive in Blackburn, at around 3.45pm this afternoon.

Firefighters from Blackburn helped to remove the man from the van and place him on a stretcher, before controlling traffic and making the scene safe, a spokesman said.

The man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after complaining of neck pain.

His injuries were described by police as minor.

Yew Tree Drive was blocked while the cars were removed.

The road was cleared at around 4.15pm.
