A TOTAL of £9,000 has been handed over to two charities after being raised from last year’s Clitheroe Town Bonfire.

Crossroads Care and Life Education Lancashire received £4,500 each from the organising committee.

The event was put together by the Rotary clubs of Clitheroe, Ribblesdale and Pendle View, Clitheroe Round Table and Clitheroe Lions Club.

The cheques were recently presented at the Old Post House Hotel, Clitheroe.

The organising committee confirmed last year that the event will return next year after not being held in 2012 due to health and safety concerns.
