A BLACKBURN resident operating a scrap metal business from his rented home has been evicted after neighbours complained to the council.

Borough housing and neighbourhoods boss Arshid Mahmood reveals the events leading up to the eviction in a report to senior colleagues.

The document, to be considered by Blackburn with Darwen council’s executive board tomorrow responded to a petition from nearby residents.

Coun Mahmood says: “The petition refers to a problem of anti-social behaviour caused by a resident of Chester Close in that the resident was effectively operating a scrap metal business from his home address, much to the annoyance of other residents..

“The landlord of the property was spoken to by colleagues from the shared neighbourhood team and the community safety team and subsequently evicted his tenant.

“Therefore the root cause of the petition, the behaviour of the tenant, has been address and the problem has ceased.

“The problem was around antisocial behaviour. The anti-social behaviour has now ceased.”

The executive board will authorise a letter to the lead petitioner explain what has happened.”
