A 62-year-old man used velcro to attach a mobile phone to his shoe and used it to film up a woman's skirt.

Blackburn magistrates heard that when police arrested David Brown they found three more pieces of ‘up skirt’ footage on his phone.

And he told police: "It became a bit of a habit."

Brown, of Chatterton Drive, Accrington, pleaded guilty to four charges of committing an act which outraged public decency.

He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months and ordered to pay £145 costs.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said staff in B and Q became suspicious when they saw Brown move up close behind a female shopper who was wearing a short summer dress.

"Staff said he appeared to be fixated with this young woman and moved so close they thought he would collide with her," said Miss Allan.

She said he then approached another young female and stretched out his foot. She walked off.

Brown was detained until police arrived. None of the victims have ever been identified.

Richard Prew, defending, said at the time of the offence Brown was on medication and one of the side effects was heightened sexuality.

"That doesn't excuse his behaviour but it may go some way to explaining it," said Mr Prew.

"He has quite candidly said that had this happened to his wife or daughter he would have been distraught. I am confident he will never appear in court again. His wife is standing by him and they want to get today over with and get on with their lives."
