Post offices in Chorley are set for a revamp

Two post offices in the Chorley area are being modernised in the coming weeks.

Work at the Devonshire Road office will see it refurbished, opening hours extended by five hours per week and the edition of car tax renewal service.

It will have three serving positions, one of these will be a traditional screened position and the other two will be a new style open-plan positions.

Opening hours will be 8.30am-5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am-5.30pm Friday and Saturdays.

The Devonshire Road office will close for refurbishment from 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 25 and re-open from 1pm on Thursday, March 13.

Nearby branches are Chorley Post Office, Cleveland Street, and Bagganley Post Office, 254 Eaves Lane, Chorley.

Abbey Village Post Office, 37 Bolton Road, will also be closing for refurbishment.

Opening hours at the new look branch will be 9am-2pm Monday to Friday and 9am-1pm on Saturday.

It will close on Thursday, February 27 2014 and re-open at 1pm on Monday, March 10.

Brinscall Post Office, 50-54 School Lane is the nearest office during this period.

Post Office area manager Alan Currie said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to the people of Chorley and we are confident that this will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
