UPDATES are expected on two major Westhoughton issues at the town’s area forum tomorrow.

The impending closure of night-time services at Winifred Kettle Community Care Centre joins a presentation from police officers on crime and community safety on the agenda at Westhoughton and Chew Moor Area Forum.

The meeting comes shortly after a spate of armed robberies in Westhoughton, including the Market Street raids of Betfred on January 4 and the Co-op store on January 6.

Police investigations into both robberies were hindered by four of the seven cameras on the street not working, while another outside the Co-op was pointing in the wrong direction.

Intermediate and respite care is set to be withdrawn from Winifred Kettle in a council revamp of care provision.

The consultation period on those changes ended on February 3.

The meeting is being held at the Westhoughton United Reformed Church in Park Road, Westhoughton, and starts at 6.30pm.
