THE future of three landmark town centre buildings in Burnley is to be decided at a Greater Manchester auction later this month.

New owners are being sought by auctioneers Pugh and Company for prominent premises at 164-168 St James Street, next to the Cross Keys pub.

Formerly occupied by The Original Mega Pound Superstore, it is one of a number of vacant properties towards the lower end of St James Street.

A Pugh spokesman said: “The property is considered suitable for a variety of uses, subject to gaining the necessary planning consents.”

The property, like most along the parade, is on three levels and has a guide price of between £80,000 and £100,000.

But probably the most striking of the Burnley buildings for the February 27 sale at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground is the day-glo orange premises of Floors 2 Go in Royle Road.

Around £175,000 is wanted for the premises, one of a number to spring up underneath the viaduct after the Burnley College and UCLan campus opened nearby.

Another three-storey property up for auction will be Brunside Mill at the corner of Curzon Street and Parker Street, which used to house a carpet showroom.

The mill comes with a showroom and warehouse and is expected to fetch anywhere somewhere around £100,000.

Elsewhere the former Victoria Works, in Railway Street, Nelson, is back up for auction, with a guide price of between £75,000 and £85,000.

And auctioneers are hopeful of getting between £50,000 and £60,000 for the former Natwest Bank in Deardengate, Haslingden.
