POLICE who executed a drug search warrant at a Blackburn house found the occupier in bed and cannabis worth £1,300.

Blackburn magistrates heard when officers woke Kyle Freeman he pointed out cannabis in a bedside cupboard and in a bag downstairs.

Freeman, 24, of Sandwich Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 costs.

The magistrates made an order for the destruction of the drugs.

Philippa White, prosecuting, said Freeman was asleep in bed when police paid him an early morning visit.

She said: “The cannabis recovered would realise £1,300 on the open market.” Imran Hussain, defending, said Freeman had bought the cannabis for his own use and had paid £300 for it.

“He co-operated fully with the police,” said Mr Hussain.
