POLICE have released CCTV images of a woman they would like to speak to after handbag was stolen from the back of a wheelchair in the Burnley branch of Marks and Spencer.

A woman and her wheelchair-bound friend were shopping on Wednesday January 22 when another woman walked past and stole the handbag, which contained money, bank cards and other personal items, from the back of the wheelchair.

PC Trevor Syrett said: "For all intents and purposes, this handbag was stolen from a vulnerable person and is nothing short of a cowardly act.

"If anybody has any information about this incident or recognises the woman in the CCTV then I would urge them to contact police."
