AN air ambulance crew came to the rescue of a man who injured his ankle after tripping on an uneven footpath near a reservoir.
The man, in his 60s, had been walking with his wife to the south of Elton Reservoir on Sunday morning.
He was walking the couple’s dog when he suffered an injury to his right ankle.
A North West Air Ambulance was called to the incident at 11.20am and landed the helicopter in a nearby field.
Paramedics then took the man for treatment at Fairfield Hospital.
Reece Depledge, aged 47, from Radcliffe, was among those who stopped to help the man as they waited for ambulance crews to arrive.
He said: “The work the air ambulance staff did was perfect. They helped the man really quickly.”
